Business Opportunity Summit

On Wednesday, November 12, 2008, Felicia Watlington, president/founder for Supplier Diversity Works moderated a panel discussion at the inaugural “Business Opportunity Summit” co-sponsored by Carolinas Minority Supplier Development Council and the Charlotte Chamber of Commerce.  A series of similarly-themed events is planned for upcoming months.  The event took place at Central Piedmont Community College – West Campus in Charlotte, N.C.  Over 100 diverse vendors registered in advance.  The three key panelists were Foodbuy, Time Warner Cable, and Enterprise Rent-a-Car, with Lowe’s and Volvo/Mack Truck also in attendance. The panel discussed the topic “Best Practices for Approaching Corporations”. Following the panel discussion, participants met in breakout sessions with each of the three corporate panelists and their buyers. The sessions were highly interactive discussions with questions pertaining to what can MWBEs do to approach companies, how corporations find suppliers, and sharing diverse vendor success stories.
