February 18, 2008 – As the one-year anniversary of the launch of the Women’s Leadership Network (WLN) approaches, Compass Group has reached some milestones in terms of its diversity programs in targeting women within their company.
In January 2008, Lisa McEuen formally joined the Compass Group North America officer group in the newly created position of Senior Vice President, Business Excellence. Her portfolio includes identifying and implementing operational best practices and creating efficiencies across all the lines of business.
In addition, with the creation of WLN in 2007, this associate group provides opportunities for networking and development, and fosters feelings of inclusion for women at all levels in the dozen of operating companies Compass Group oversees.
“Over 50 percent of the American workforce are women and the number will continue to rise to over 60 percent in the next few years.* It’s no secret that historically, women have had unique challenges in corporations. We started the Women’s Leadership Network as a pro-active step to assist us with the retention, development and advancement of women in the company,” explains Vincent Berkeley, Chief Diversity Officer of Compass Group, North America.
Associate resource groups increases associate engagement. Not only does it create a forum for networking, it also provides educational activities focused on career advancement and recognizes the contributions and achievements by women in the organization.
WLN currently has over 500 members within five active regional chapters – Charlotte, Atlanta, Toronto, Metro East (New York/New Jersey), Cincinnati and Connecticut/Massachusetts. Four additional chapters are being planned this year, including ones in California, Tennessee, Washington D.C. and Texas.
